The first time I tried a facial mask was at the age of 13. I picked up Freeman’s Feeling Beautiful Clay Mask in Avocado and Oatmeal to fight those pimples. I still remember the tingly feeling that mask left on my face.
A mask can be a relaxing treat for your face and a part of your skin care routine. It serves as a deep exfoliation that clears out pores and the dead skin cells. It is best to use a mask once a week. Use it too often and your skin will get irritated.
Over the years, I tried several masks and my skin has changed. So, here are some of my personal recommendations.
Origins Active Charcoal Mask. A deep cleaning mask out of charcoal that purifies and pulls out dirt. The skin feels refreshed, soft, and clean. A simple deep cleaning mask for all skin types.
Kiehls Turmeric & Pomegranate Mask. Turmeric is great for brightening while deep cleaning pores. I recommend this during the winter months and for mature skin. The scent is intoxicating. My face felt brighter and refreshed.
Lush Brazened Honey. If you’re interested in a DIY style mask made out of fresh ingredients without actually doing the work yourself, grab this mask. This mask is inspired by Ayurvedic principles. The primary ingredient is ginger that awakens the skin and honey is a natural moisturizer that also functions as an astrigent. This mask is great for reviving tired skin.
